Excon 2023

Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru  ·  12–16 Dec 2023

Excon is South Asia's largest construction equipment exhibition — held every two years at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, it represents the benchmark event for India's infrastructure and mining equipment industry. For BOS to participate in Excon 2023 was a statement: that portable on-site machining had earned its place alongside the industry's most established players, and that the BOS ecosystem was ready for scrutiny from the most senior decision-makers in the market.

The December 2023 edition drew over 70,000 visitors across five days — CEOs of large EPC contractors, maintenance directors from fleet operators managing hundreds of machines, procurement heads from government infrastructure agencies, and international buyers from Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. BOS presented not just products at this show, but a complete repair ecosystem — demonstrating how the DS50, DS60, and associated tooling combine to address the full spectrum of bore repair challenges on a single construction or mining site.

BOS-DS50 — Full Live Demonstration

Complete setup-to-finish boring demonstration on a live bore specimen — show visitors could follow the entire workflow from alignment to final measurement.

BOS-DS60 — Large Bore Applications

Demonstrated the DS60 on crane boom pivot and large excavator chassis bores — application categories particularly relevant to Excon's infrastructure-heavy audience.

Complete On-Site Repair Ecosystem

Presented the full workflow: bore diagnosis, automatic weld build-up, in-process measurement, and final boring to specification — all with portable equipment at the job site.

Intelligent Control System — Live Walkthrough

Demonstrated the automated HMI — bore diameter input, automatic RPM and feed rate calculation, weld parameter selection — to show how BOS removes operator guesswork.

Field Case Studies & Client Results

Presented documented results from BOS deployments — bore repair quality data, turnaround times, and cost comparisons — giving credibility to live demonstration claims.

Key Highlights

Excon 2023 was where BOS presented for the first time to the full tier of India's construction and mining decision-making hierarchy. At previous shows, the audience had been predominantly operational buyers — site engineers, maintenance managers, workshop owners. At Excon, BOS engaged with C-suite executives and group maintenance directors from India's largest infrastructure companies — conversations that were qualitatively different, focused on fleet-wide procurement frameworks and national service agreements rather than individual machine purchases.

The "complete repair ecosystem" positioning resonated strongly. Excon visitors were familiar with the concept of portable boring bars, but BOS's proposition — that you can diagnose, weld, and re-bore a pin bore to workshop quality without leaving the site — was consistently described as surprising in its comprehensiveness. The live demonstration of weld build-up followed immediately by re-machining was the standout moment of the show for the BOS stand.

Excon also provided BOS with its highest concentration of international visitor engagement to date. Buyers and distributors from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Oman, Australia, and East Africa engaged with BOS machines during the show — expanding the brand's export pipeline significantly.

Who We Met

The Excon 2023 visitor list represented the apex of India's construction and mining industry. Vice Presidents of Maintenance and Chief Equipment Officers from companies like major EPC contractors, national road-building firms, and large mining conglomerates — organisations operating fleets of 50–500 machines across multiple states — engaged with BOS in detailed technical and commercial discussions. For the first time, BOS's pitch was evaluated not against workshop alternatives but against enterprise-level maintenance programme requirements.

Karnataka and Kerala's construction industry was also strongly represented, with contractors from the Bengaluru metro, coastal Karnataka port infrastructure, and Kerala's flooding rehabilitation and road improvement programmes showing acute interest in on-site machining capability for remote site operations where transport logistics are particularly challenging.

Heavy equipment dealers and OEM after-sales teams from JCB, Komatsu, SANY, Volvo CE, and Caterpillar dealer networks in South India attended and engaged on the potential for integrating BOS into their authorised service infrastructure. These conversations are particularly significant commercially — OEM dealer service integration creates referral and co-branding opportunities that amplify BOS's market reach in ways individual sales cannot achieve.

Why It Mattered for BOS

Excon 2023 marked BOS's arrival as a credible participant in India's top-tier construction equipment market. Sharing the show floor with OEM giants, established aftermarket brands, and international machinery manufacturers — and holding our own in conversations with the most demanding buyers in the industry — was a validation that BOS's product quality, technical positioning, and commercial presentation had reached a level that commands serious attention at the highest level.

The show generated BOS's strongest lead pipeline to that point, including several enterprise-scale opportunities that led to multi-machine procurements and service agreement discussions. The international buyer engagement at Excon also directly contributed to BOS's export growth in 2024, particularly in the Middle East and East Africa corridors.

Perhaps most importantly, Excon 2023 established BOS's commitment to Bengaluru as a strategic market. With a branch office in Yeshwanthpura and now a significant exhibition presence, South India has become a pillar of BOS's commercial geography — a position the brand will reinforce with an even stronger showing at Excon 2025.
